The second series of the Cherokee was built on the "Jeep SJ" platform. It was produced from 1984 to 1996. It differed greatly from the previous series, having smaller dimensions. This new feature makes it one of the lightest and most agile off-road vehicles of its time.
From 1984 to 1990 the name "Limited" indicates the most accessorized (luxury) model of the Cherokee.
