The Bianchina was conceived as a luxurious version of the classic fiat 500, and was presented to the public in 1957 at the Museum of Science and Technology in Milan.
Although the Bianchina's selling price was 15% higher than the Fiat 500, the sale in the first months was higher then the expectations. This resulted in Autobianchi expanding its range and improving its characteristics.
The Transformable version was the first to make its debut and also the only one to be produced in the early years, until the arrival of the Panoramica and Cabriolet.
