In the 1950s, the Renault house had two car models available: the small and charming 4CV and the elegant Frégate, a quite limited range of cars. Reason why they started the production of a new convertible that was both economical and elegant, that cold have a good market in the United States.
The production of the Renault Floride model began in mid-1959, it was proposed as a 2-seater spider , a coupé version, and in 1960 was proposed the 2 + 2 convertible version. This latest version has sports cars typical features, with a European and American style influence. A famous moment for the Floride was when Brigitte Bardot witnessed it, even wanting one for herself.
